[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Professor Choi Bae-geun of Konkuk University, who caused controversy with a Facebook post comparing the facial photos of Professor Cho Dong-yeon of Seokyeong University and Professor Lee Soo-jung of Kyonggi University, resigned on the 6th from his position as co-chairman of the Basic Social Committee of the Democratic Party's presidential campaign committee. It has been 20 days since his appointment.

On the same day, Professor Choi posted a statement on his Facebook, saying, "I have resigned from the position of co-chairman of the Basic Social Committee," and "As of today, I will step down from all positions in the campaign committee and return to my original role as a teacher." He added, "I want to devote myself to what I have always considered most important, which is enabling our children and students to live with hope for the future," and said, "I refuse any unfounded speculation regarding my resignation from the chairmanship."

Professor Choi was appointed on November 16 as co-chairman of the Basic Social Committee directly under Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. On the night of November 29, Professor Choi posted side-by-side facial photos of Professor Cho Dong-yeon (39), recruited by the Democratic Party, and Professor Lee Soo-jung (57), recruited by the People Power Party, on his Facebook with the caption "Difference?" which sparked controversy over 'appearance comparison.'
