Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Selected as an Exemplary Institution for Fair Trade Promotion to Spread Fair Economy

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 6th that it attended the Fair Economy Performance Reporting Conference hosted by five government ministries (Fair Trade Commission, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Financial Services Commission) and shared exemplary fair trade cases.

Under the theme "Growing Together, Walking the Future Together," the conference held at the Government Seoul Office International Conference Hall was attended by the Prime Minister, government officials including ministers and vice ministers from related ministries, as well as representatives from large and small-medium enterprises and public institutions to discuss the achievements of fair economy promotion and future development directions.

Selected as an exemplary institution for fair trade in the public sector to spread the fair economy, the Authority attended the event and presented its achievements in blocking unfair practices by public and private companies.

The main achievements include ▲establishing standard approval conditions for port facility use ▲improving lease contracts unfavorable to tenants ▲improving transaction practices with the public such as supporting litigation costs when consumers sue due to the Authority’s unfair measures ▲abolishing the practice of reducing base amounts during bidding ▲mutual equal burden of electronic stamp tax, among others.

Additionally, by directly paying subcontractors and designating subcontract supervisors to strengthen the inspection system, the Authority has also worked to block unfair practices by private companies, maintaining zero cases of unfair trade occurrences.

President Cha Min-sik, who reported the achievements on this day, said, “We will continue to establish a fair trade compliance system so that the institution itself recognizes and practices the principles of fair trade,” and added, “We will focus more on realizing the core value of ‘fairness’ to grow together with the people.”
