Jinnamgwan Public Parking Lot and Dolsan Anguljeon Intersection Bypass Roads Each 700 Million Won
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] Joo Cheol-hyun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Jeonnam Yeosu-si Gap), has secured 1.4 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to resolve traffic congestion in Yeosu’s old downtown and Dolsan area.
According to Joo Cheol-hyun’s office, on the 6th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety allocated 700 million KRW for the construction of the Jinnamgwan public parking lot in Yeosu, Jeonnam, and 700 million KRW for a bypass road at Anguljeon Intersection in Dolsan. These two projects were applied for special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the request of Yeosu City.
The Jinnamgwan public parking lot construction project involves rebuilding the current flat parking lot with 102 spaces into a 2-story (3 floors) parking tower with 155 spaces to alleviate severe parking shortages caused by the increase in tourists visiting the old downtown area.
Next, the Dolsan-eup Anguljeon Intersection bypass road project will construct a 1.3 km long, 6 m wide bypass road from Anguljeon Intersection to near Jijangsa Temple to disperse traffic volume and provide transportation convenience for local residents and tourists. The Dolsan area has been experiencing frequent traffic congestion on National Road 17 due to tourism activation and the construction of lodging facilities, causing significant inconvenience to tourists and residents.
Earlier, in June, Joo Cheol-hyun secured special grants of 500 million KRW for the construction of the Yi Sun-sin Square Solar Square project, the center of Yeosu tourism, and 600 million KRW for the road widening and paving project between Ocheon and Manheung.
Joo Cheol-hyun stated, “Since Yeosu’s rise as Korea’s premier marine tourism city, chronic traffic congestion in the old downtown and Dolsan areas has caused continuous inconvenience not only to tourists but also to residents. Once the Jinnamgwan public parking lot construction and the Dolsan Anguljeon Intersection bypass road projects are completed, they will play a significant role in alleviating many inconveniences such as traffic congestion.”
