Unstoppable Spread of the 'Omicron Variant'... First Infection Reported in Thailand Too

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The first case of infection with the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 has been reported in Thailand.

According to statements from health authorities cited by local media on the 6th, the infected individual is a man in his 30s with American nationality who entered the country from Spain on the 29th of last month. He tested positive for the Omicron variant.

The man had lived in Spain for about a year and entered Thailand using the quarantine-free entry system. Thailand implements a policy allowing fully vaccinated travelers from 63 'low-risk COVID-19 countries' to enter without quarantine.
