[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Lee Ho-young, president of Changwon National University, has been elected as the chairman of the National Council of Presidents of Public Universities nationwide.
Changwon National University announced on the 6th that President Lee was elected as the 29th chairman of the National Council of Public Universities at the '4th Presidents' Council Meeting of 2021' held at the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel on the 3rd. His term will be one year starting from January 1, 2022.
President Lee said, "I feel a heavy responsibility as I take on an important role during a time of great transition due to the decline in the school-age population and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "I will strive to fulfill the duties of public universities for the advancement of higher education, local communities, and the Republic of Korea through solid cooperation and communication among member universities."
Meanwhile, the National Council of Public Universities is a consultative body of presidents from 41 national and public universities nationwide, established in 1992 to contribute to the development of university education in Korea through mutual cooperation among member universities.
