[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) has handed over the case of allegations regarding illegal special recruitment of retired auditors by former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung to the prosecution.
According to the Citizens' Action for Judicial Justice (Sasehaeng) on the 6th, the PCC transferred the case accusing former Chairman Choi of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 29th of last month.
Earlier, Sasehaeng, along with the Seoul Education Protection Joint Countermeasure Committee, a civic group, filed a complaint with the PCC on July 26, claiming that former Chairman Choi illegally recruited 23 retired auditors during his tenure.
The PCC also transferred to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in August the case filed by Sasehaeng accusing former Chairman Choi of conducting a targeted audit against Superintendent Cho, who was suspected of special recruitment of dismissed teachers.
