'Unframed' Lee Je-hoon "I Understood the Director's Mind While Casting Jung Hae-in"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Je-hoon revealed that he wrote the scenario with Jung Hae-in in mind.

On the morning of the 6th, during the online press conference for the Watcha original short film project 'Unframed,' Lee Je-hoon said, "I understood the director's feelings while casting the actors."

'Unframed' is a short film project where four artists (Park Jung-min, Son Seok-gu, Choi Hee-seo, and Lee Je-hoon) who explore new possibilities beyond the frame write and direct stories they have deeply cherished in their hearts. The project presents 'Class President Election,' 'Rebroadcast,' 'Bandi,' and 'Blue Happiness.'

Lee Je-hoon, who planned the project, said, "Through the production company Hardcut, which we co-founded, I wanted to create works directed by actors while working on various projects. I am honored to work with actors interested in directing, and I am grateful that good results have come out."

'Blue Happiness,' directed by Lee Je-hoon, depicts the story of Chanyeong, a job seeker who dreams of an ordinary life while facing anxiety and worries about the future, chasing happiness that is hard to grasp no matter how hard he tries.

He said, "I wrote the story by listing keywords about what youth living in today's era are obsessed with and enthusiastic about. I wanted to portray the story of youth living in reality."

Regarding the background of casting Jung Hae-in, Lee Je-hoon recalled, "I wondered who could represent the youth of this era as the main character Chanyeong, and no one else came to mind but Jung Hae-in. I wrote the script tailored to him, and cautiously showed the completed scenario to the actor, who said he would do it, so I was thrilled."

He continued, "I understood the director's feelings. When casting actors, I felt nervous, excited, and fearful at the same time. It made me determined to direct well," he said with a smile.

When asked if he usually responds quickly to directors about whether he will appear as an actor, Lee Je-hoon said, "I tend to read and respond quickly," adding jokingly, "I will try to read and reply even faster in the future."

'Unframed' will be released on the online video streaming service (OTT) Watcha on the 8th.
