134 Billion KRW (7.8%) Increase Compared to This Year
Governor Song's Strategic Response and Networking with Ruling and Opposition Politicians Yield Results
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 6th that it secured a national treasury budget of 185.6 billion KRW in the 2022 government budget passed by the National Assembly plenary session on the 3rd, giving momentum to the project to establish the foundation for Goheung's future growth engines.
According to Goheung-gun, the national treasury project budget reflected in next year's government budget is 185.6 billion KRW, an increase of 13.4 billion KRW (7.8%) compared to this year's 172.2 billion KRW.
Among the total 213 major projects reflected in next year's government budget, 61 new projects amounting to 48 billion KRW and 152 continuing projects amounting to 137.6 billion KRW were included.
In addition to the national treasury projects, considering various public contest projects and general national treasury subsidy projects, the scale of the 2022 national treasury budget is expected to increase further.
The county evaluated that the achievement of securing the maximum government budget next year was the result of efforts centered on Governor Song Gwi-geun, where all public officials developed logical arguments on the validity and urgency of the projects and strategically requested national treasury funds by fully utilizing personal networks targeting central government departments and ruling and opposition politicians in accordance with the budget formulation schedule.
In particular, Governor Song added significance by individually meeting with ruling and opposition lawmakers until the final stages of the National Assembly budget review to directly explain the necessity of promoting local pending projects, successfully securing an additional 6.5 billion KRW in national treasury budget for six projects.
The major projects with additional budget increases reflected by the National Assembly are △ Goheung County Memorial Park construction (1.3 billion KRW) △ Doyang disaster risk area maintenance (700 million KRW) △ Installation of joint discharge facilities for dried seaweed processing wastewater at Pungnam Port (1.5 billion KRW) △ Improvement of National Road No. 77 from Yeongnam to Pallyeong in Goheung (1.4 billion KRW) △ Improvement of Bonggye Intersection in Goheung (3.5 billion KRW), etc.
Among the projects reflected in next year's government budget, the major projects directly implemented by Goheung-gun are △ Pallyeong Bridge complex rest area construction △ Smart Farm Innovation Valley resident-participatory greenhouse construction △ Haechangman 3 disaster risk zone maintenance △ Goheung aged sewage pipeline maintenance △ Development of drinking water sources on Sisan Island, Doyang △ Goheung yuzu ecological trail and tourism infrastructure construction, totaling 201 projects with 120.6 billion KRW.
The major projects implemented by the state are △ Development and demonstration of 5G-based drone operation communication technology △ Operation and commercialization support of aerospace infrastructure △ Construction of four national fishing ports including Nokdong Port △ Development and demonstration of 433MHz-based drone application communication technology, totaling 12 projects with 65 billion KRW.
Meanwhile, during the past three years of Goheung-gun's 7th elected term (’19?’21), a total of 448.7 billion KRW in national treasury project funds were secured, showing a steady increase trend of more than 17% annually on average.
Governor Song Gwi-geun said, “With national funds secured in various fields, Goheung has obtained a stable growth engine that can leap into a new future,” and added, “As the budget has been secured, we will closely monitor the project implementation process and accelerate efforts to promote regional development and improve the quality of life for residents.”
