[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Kim Byung-nae) will invest 21.6 billion KRW to provide jobs for 6,051 elderly residents in the district starting January next year, aiming to promote active senior life and enhance a sense of accomplishment through participation in social activities.
According to Nam-gu on the 6th, recruitment for participants in the 2022 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project will continue until the 14th.
The number of public sector jobs for next year includes 5,193 in the public interest activity sector, 411 in the social service sector, 307 in the market-type sector, and 140 in the employment placement sector. To carry out the job project, 15 organizations within the district, including Nam-gu Senior Club, Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center, and Chorok Senior Welfare Center, will serve as executing agencies.
First, eligibility for the public interest activity sector requires seniors aged 65 or older who reside in Nam-gu according to their resident registration and receive the basic pension.
Seniors participating in the project will perform tasks such as park maintenance, management of public parking lots, and advertisement maintenance.
Anyone aged 65 or older residing in Nam-gu can participate in the social service sector. For some projects such as educational facility learning assistance, senior consultant roles, and public administration support, those aged 60 or older are also eligible.
The market-type sector includes jobs at small stores and specialized occupational groups, targeting seniors aged 60 or older.
Participants can join nine business groups within the Nam-gu Senior Club, including the Myeongaju Cane Production Group and the Senior Apartment Delivery Group, as well as the Chorok Sujak Playground and Cleaning Master Group operated by Chorok Senior Welfare Center, and the instructor dispatch project of Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center.
The employment placement sector, which includes positions such as security guards, cleaners, and parking management staff, is designed for seniors who have completed certain training or possess relevant job skills. This sector targets seniors aged 60 or older.
