Daewoo E&C Develops Automated Gangform Lifting Equipment...Significantly Reduces Accident Risks Daewoo E&C has succeeded in developing automated equipment (DSG) for lifting 'Gangpome' (large formwork integrally manufactured with formwork and work platforms) installed during the construction of apartment buildings.


Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced on the 6th that it has successfully developed an automated device for lifting gangforms installed during the construction of multi-family housing (DSG, Daewoo Smart Gangform) and is applying it at the Cheongna International City Station Prugio City site.


The automation technology developed by Daewoo E&C this time is expected to drastically prevent safety accidents during gangform lifting work, which is one of the most dangerous tasks at construction sites.


Gangform is a large formwork manufactured as an integrated unit including the external wall formwork installation/dismantling work and the cage used as a working platform for plastering and finishing (veneer) work.


Generally, most multi-family housing sites have used gangforms lifted manually by tower cranes.


However, from a safety perspective, if the gangform fixing bolts loosen while the tower crane is not holding the gangform, there is a risk of a major fall accident. When strong winds blow, the gangform can be blown by the wind, putting workers in extremely dangerous situations.


In the case of the DSG automated device developed by Daewoo E&C, it fundamentally prevents accidents during gangform lifting by applying a rail-based hydraulic lifting automation system instead of a tower crane, and it is expected to help prevent accidents caused by strong winds and delays in construction schedules. Additionally, the working platform height of the gangform has been significantly reduced from the existing 2.5m to about 0.7m, greatly reducing the product’s weight and volume.


A Daewoo E&C official said, "The core of this development project is to effectively combine the gangform, the most commonly used external wall formwork at construction sites, with advanced hydraulic automatic lifting technology to enable accident prevention, improved convenience, and economical and widespread use at construction sites."


Meanwhile, the development of Daewoo E&C’s DSG automation system was jointly participated in by the small and medium-sized enterprise Geunha Precision Co., Ltd.
