Market Kurly Partners with Traditional Liquor Industry to Boost Market Activity

Market Kurly Partners with Traditional Liquor Industry to Boost Market Activity Market Kurly, Traditional Liquor.

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Market Kurly announced on the 6th that it is collaborating with traditional liquor manufacturers to expand sales and revitalize the market for traditional liquors made from Korean agricultural products. They are listing various traditional liquor products and providing a service that allows customers to conveniently receive them through Saetbyeol Delivery.

Traditional liquor is characterized by its rich aroma, smooth throat feel, and unique flavors utilizing regional specialties, as it is fermented and distilled from Korean agricultural products. The traditional liquors listed on Market Kurly consist of a total of 24 types, including Makgeolli, distilled soju, cheongju, and fruit wines made from Korean agricultural products according to the Traditional Liquor Industry Act. Representative products include the widely recognized "Neurin Maeul" Makgeolli, "Seoul-ui Bam" distilled from dogwood berries and yellow plums, "Bingtanbok," a bokbunja wine with added carbonation, and "Wonmae," the only domestic plum wine made from 100% plum extract with natural honey from Jeju Island. As these are alcoholic products, only customers who have verified their age through mobile phone authentication on Market Kurly’s PC website or application (app) can purchase them, and orders are only available in Saetbyeol Delivery areas such as the metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Daegu.

Market Kurly provides various information on the product description page so that customers can purchase traditional liquors according to their preferences. Through tasting notes by liquor experts, basic details such as the type of liquor, alcohol content, and awards are introduced, along with descriptions of color, aroma, taste, and throat feel. Foods that pair well with traditional liquors, such as main dishes, salads, fruits, and desserts, are also introduced.

Market Kurly stated, "Considering the spread of a culture that enjoys alcohol deliciously and the increasing demand for home drinking or home parties, we will discover and propose various traditional liquors to customers in the future." According to the "2020 Liquor Market Trend Report" published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), the percentage of consumers choosing home as the place to drink traditional liquor has increased annually from 43.8% in 2018 to 47.6% in 2019 and 56.1% in 2020.

From the 9th to the 16th, Market Kurly will hold a home drinking special exhibition proposing about 90 types of liquor and side dishes, including traditional liquors, for customers planning small year-end gatherings at home. This special exhibition will showcase a variety of liquor side dishes, from convenient foods such as grilled pork intestines, chicken feet, fried chicken, fresh salmon sashimi, and grilled squid, to soups like fish cake soup, scorched rice soup, and beef hot pot, which pair well with traditional liquors.
