A 'Fountain' to Be Installed at Ilgok 2nd Neighborhood Park in Buk-gu, Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Buk-gu Eul), announced on the 5th that he secured 2.1 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (hereinafter ‘special grants’) for five projects, including the installation cost of the fountain at Ilgok 2nd Neighborhood Park in Buk-gu, Gwangju.

The secured special grants include ▲700 million KRW for the installation of the fountain at Ilgok 2nd Neighborhood Park, ▲300 million KRW for environmental improvement construction at Unam 1·2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers, ▲300 million KRW for environmental improvement of Useok Sports Facilities, ▲400 million KRW for repair of the sewage culvert across from Goryeo High School in Samgak-dong, and ▲400 million KRW for repair of the sewage culvert around Dongnim-dong.

With this 2.1 billion KRW special grant from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Assemblyman Lee achieved a total of 4.2 billion KRW in special grants for nine projects this year.

The Ilgok 2nd Neighborhood Park fountain installation project is expected to contribute to creating a pleasant environment for residents by providing a water play area for children, mitigating the urban heat island effect, and improving the aesthetics of the urban park.

The environmental improvement projects for Unam 1·2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers and Useok Sports Facilities will provide convenience to residents using the government offices through renovation of aging facilities, and promote healthy leisure activities by enhancing the health of residents using the sports facilities and activating community sports.

The sewage culvert repair projects across from Goryeo High School in Samgak-dong and around Dongnim-dong involve facilities that have been deteriorated for over 30 years, causing severe damage and concerns about ground subsidence, which have inconvenienced residents. The structural function improvement and durability enhancement of these facilities are expected to prevent ground subsidence and ensure safety, thereby resolving residents’ inconveniences.

Assemblyman Lee said, “The special grants secured this time are expected to greatly improve the quality of life and safety for residents of Buk-gu, Gwangju,” and added, “I will continue to do my best for the development of our region and the improvement of residents’ quality of life.”
