[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced on the 3rd that it will accept applications for the ‘2022 First Half Patent Attorney Practical Training Group Education’ on the International Intellectual Property Training Institute website from the 6th to the 10th.
The group education is mainly targeted at the final successful candidates of the ‘58th Patent Attorney Examination’ and will be held from January 24 to April 8 next year (10 weeks, 47 days).
The first half education is conducted for those who have passed the patent attorney exam with basic knowledge of intellectual property, and mainly consists of practical subjects focused on the performance of patent attorney duties.
However, considering the spread of COVID-19, real-time online education will be prioritized, and the program will be operated to include two weeks of offline education in line with the purpose of group education under the ‘Patent Attorney Act Enforcement Decree.’
The offline education will be held three times over two weeks at the International Intellectual Property Training Institute located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, focusing on practical subjects.
KIPO plans to devote great effort to managing trainees by separately scheduling ethics education to strengthen their professional ethics awareness and monitoring the use of virtual cameras in real time during online education to prevent cheating.
Other detailed information about the group education can be found on the websites of KIPO and the International Intellectual Property Training Institute.
Kim Tae-eung, Director of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute at KIPO, said, “Prioritizing the prevention of COVID-19 infection among trainees, we will combine online and offline education, and during online sessions, we will operate real-time Q&A and quiz corners to maximize educational effectiveness.”
