According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, the total number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases testing positive across 17 cities and provinces nationwide was counted at 4,227.
This is 170 more than the 4,057 cases counted at 9 PM the previous day. On the 2nd, after 9 PM, an additional 887 cases were added, closing at a final count of 4,944.
Since there is still time until midnight when the count is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 0:00 on the 4th is expected to increase further and exceed 5,000 once again.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported on this day, the metropolitan area accounted for 3,311 cases (78.3%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 916 cases (21.7%).
By city and province, Seoul had 1,803 cases, Gyeonggi 1,224 cases, Incheon 284 cases, Chungnam 133 cases, Busan 131 cases, Gyeongnam 103 cases, Gangwon 98 cases, Gyeongbuk 90 cases, Daegu 87 cases, Daejeon 71 cases, Jeonnam 52 cases, Chungbuk 48 cases, Gwangju 39 cases, Jeonbuk 34 cases, Jeju 21 cases, Ulsan 6 cases, and Sejong 3 cases.
Confirmed cases were reported in all 17 cities and provinces. The domestic 4th wave of the pandemic, which began in early July, has continued for nearly five months.
