[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited Samsung Group's think tank on the 3rd to review economic policies. Afterwards, he headed to Jeonbuk to solidify support in the Honam region.
On the same day, Lee visited the Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and spent time reviewing economic policies based on the principle of 'Eokgangbuyak' (suppressing the strong and helping the weak).
In his greeting, Lee said, "It is true that I am pro-labor, but it seems there is a perception that being pro-labor means being anti-business. However, both the public and economic experts overwhelmingly regard me as a pro-business figure among metropolitan leaders. Being pro-labor and pro-business are not mutually exclusive."
He also stated, "In fact, I believe that being both pro-labor and pro-business is the most pro-economic approach." Director Cha Moon-jung commented, "It was impressive that he showed many business-friendly aspects." At this meeting, Lee also listened to advice from eight researchers regarding his number one pledge, 'Transformative Fair Growth.'
In the afternoon, Lee headed to Jeonbuk to continue his 'Mae-ta-bus' schedule, where he travels nationwide by bus every week. This is a 2-night, 3-day campaign targeting Honam following last week's tour of Jeonnam. Former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun will make a surprise accompaniment on the Jeonbuk schedule. Since Chung, who is from Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk, competed against Lee during the primary, this joint appearance is expected to strengthen Lee's campaign under the 'One Team' spirit.
