Hyundai Kefico Supports Korea-Malaysia Cooperation to Build Micro EV Ecosystem

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Hyundai Kefico is participating in cooperation to jointly foster the micro electric vehicle (EV) industry ecosystem between Korea and Malaysia.

On the 3rd, Hyundai Kefico announced that on the 2nd, it signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for fostering the Korea-Malaysia micro EV industry with a total of seven companies and institutions, including Daegu Machinery Parts Research Institute and NanoMalaysia under the Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

According to this MOA, a two-year demonstration project for 1,000 battery-swappable micro EVs will be promoted from the second half of next year between the two countries. Hyundai Kefico will provide the electric two-wheeled drive systems Mobilgo 3 (3 kW class) and 7 (7 kW class), as well as the IoT-based mobility data service platform "Molda." In addition, it plans to develop and supply electric two-wheeled powertrain, control, and cooling systems. Considering that the project will be promoted with battery swapping, vehicle management and control services compatible with this will also be developed and supplied.

Hyundai Kefico has been participating in a battery exchange service demonstration project to foster Daegu's personal mobility industry through a business agreement with Daegu City in October last year. With this MOA, Hyundai Kefico has laid the groundwork for expanding overseas business, including in Malaysia.

A Hyundai Kefico official said, "By participating in demonstration projects to build an electric two-wheeled ecosystem both domestically and internationally, we are securing safety and reliability and establishing a service-based user-oriented micro mobility solution," adding, "Based on Hyundai Kefico's strengths in system-level development and verification capabilities, we will contribute to the expansion of the eco-friendly micro mobility industry."
