[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] On the 2nd, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, stated toward presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, "The party leader is at least not a subordinate of the presidential candidate."
While staying in Jeju Island, Lee said in an evening interview with JTBC, "I believe the resonance of the statement that the Prosecutor General is not a subordinate of the Minister of Justice created the current candidate Yoon," expressing this view.
He explained, "If it had been customary for the presidential candidate or president to manage the party through a vertical hierarchy, breaking that would be the beginning of freshness."
Regarding the so-called 'Yunhaekgwan' (key associates of candidate Yoon) who had sharply criticized him in anonymous interviews, Lee mentioned, "As you all know, there are several."
He added, "They are playing pranks anonymously and arrogantly using the candidate's authority," emphasizing, "I will not contribute to making a failed presidential candidate or a failed president."
On the controversy over Yoon's 'Lee Jun-seok passing,' he evaluated, "They never requested consultation or asked for my opinion, and it seems there were only attempts to persuade me after decisions were made." He further lamented, "Whether it was recruiting Professor Lee Soo-jung or other matters, I could only feel that I was being notified after conclusions had been reached."
He pointed out, "A person from candidate Yoon's side once told me, 'Everything revolves around the candidate, so don't appear on broadcasts or do anything,' and now that I say I will do nothing, they call it a work stoppage, which is absurd."
