Ham Chang-hwan, Senior Expert at Jeonnam Provincial Council, Donates 2 Million Won to Community Chest of Korea

‘Korea Public Welfare Awards’ Selected as Meritorious Person in Public Welfare Expertise Development Field, Award Donation Designated

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea (President Nodongil, Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on the 2nd that it received a donation of 2 million won from Ham Changhwan, Senior Specialist of the Health, Welfare and Environment Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council.

Senior Specialist Ham was selected as a meritorious person in the field of public welfare expertise development at the ‘4th Korea Public Welfare Awards’ hosted by the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association and organized by the Korea Social Welfare Administration Research Association, and donated the prize money he received as a reward.

The donation will be used for the operation project of the ‘Our Neighborhood Welfare Mobile Unit’ promoted by Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae.

Senior Specialist Ham is the first social welfare public official of Jeonnam Provincial Office with a rare career, starting from the township office as part of the first class of social welfare specialists in Jeonnam Province in 1991, and having worked at the county office, provincial office, and the central ministry, the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

He has received the Prime Minister’s Commendation for having his proposals from public suggestions reflected in policies, as well as the Presidential Commendation for being selected as a meritorious person for the promotion of welfare for the disabled.

He also published a book titled ‘I am Happy Because I am a Social Welfare Public Official,’ which is rarely reprinted up to the third edition.

This book is still used as a guidebook for new social welfare public officials to understand welfare work and to refine the attitude of public officials.

Senior Specialist Ham said, “I am honored to receive such a great award even though I am not someone who is better or exemplary than other colleagues,” and added, “I will work harder so as not to be ashamed of receiving the ‘Korea Public Welfare Award.’”

Nodongil, President of Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae, said, “It is pleasing to deliver warm news as the weather gets colder,” and added, “I hope the end of the year and New Year will be a time when the affection of the residents fills the Love Temperature Tower.”
