Meeting Amidst Predecessor Committee Difficulties, Will They Attempt to Recruit Kim Jong-in?
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Won Hee-ryong, Policy General Director of the People Power Party's Election Countermeasures Committee, will have a dinner meeting with former People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in on the 2nd.
Before giving a lecture at the 'Daegu Women's Political Academy' held at the People Power Party Daegu City Party Office on the afternoon of the 2nd, Director Won told reporters, "I decided to meet former Chairman Kim this evening," adding, "I will meet him to listen to his words and convey the concerns and wishes of the people."
A representative from Director Won's side also explained in a phone call on the same day, "The two will meet this evening as a couple's gathering," and "It is a personal appointment, and they have often met like this since before."
The People Power Party is facing difficulties in the process of forming the election committee after the failure to recruit former Chairman Kim as the General Election Committee Chairman. In particular, the sudden disappearance of Party Leader Lee Jun-seok, who hoped for his participation, has also stalled the launch of the election committee.
Attempts to persuade former Chairman Kim are expected to be made during this meeting as well. Director Won reportedly emphasized the 'One-team spirit' again during his lecture that day. He said, "To become one team, we must also be one team with candidates Hong Joon-pyo and Yoo Seung-min, who competed in the primaries, and their supporters," adding, "We should have organized ourselves to show a united front with former Chairman Kim and others who were outside the party, but it seems that consideration and detailed aspects were lacking in this regard. As a member of the one team, I intend to do all I can in my role."
