[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 2nd that it held a launch declaration ceremony marking the start of the ‘Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign’ and an unveiling ceremony of the ‘Love Thermometer’ to achieve the fundraising goal at the county office square.
Under the theme of ‘Sharing, a social vaccine for all,’ this 62-day campaign has shortened its duration (until January 31 next year) and set a fundraising target of 300 million KRW in general donations, the same as last year, considering the ongoing economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
The launch ceremony proceeded in the order of awarding sharing merit recipients, the first donation handover ceremony of the campaign, and shaking ‘hope balloons’ to pray for the swift end of COVID-19 and recovery to daily life.
The Gochang branch of the Korea Pork Producers Association (Branch Chief Lee Dongwan) and Chambada Fishery Cooperative Corporation (CEO Kim Jonghak), who have been exemplary citizens through steady sharing and donations, received sharing merit awards.
As the first donors representing individuals, groups, facilities, and companies respectively, Mr. Jo Chungwoong from Daesan-myeon, who produces eco-friendly rice, donated 200,000 KRW.
Last year, the Gochang Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade Federation (President Lee Sanggeun), which carried out various volunteer activities totaling 3,500 hours with about 500 members, donated 1 million KRW converted from volunteer hours through the volunteer hour conversion donation system.
Also, Gochang General Hospital raised the love thermometer by donating 12,391,030 KRW this year with the sincerity of its employees.
Participation in the sharing campaign can be made through the dedicated account of the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea, the love accounts of various media outlets, or cash and in-kind donations via the county office and each eup/myeon customized welfare team.
Governor Yu Gisang said, “Although everyone is facing difficulties due to COVID-19, we are raising the love thermometer again to spread hope through warm sharing. As the weather gets colder, I ask the citizens to think first of neighbors in need and to participate actively so that beautiful hands can be a great help to those neighbors.”
