According to the consumer price trends announced by the Honam Regional Statistics Office on the 2nd, the consumer price index was 109.26, an increase of 4.3% compared to last year.
The living cost index rose 6.3%, mainly due to significant increases in items such as cucumber, pumpkin, and perilla leaves.
The fresh food index increased by 11.7%, with fresh vegetables rising 15.7%, fresh fish and shellfish 10.6%, and fresh fruits 9.2% respectively.
By expenditure purpose, increases were seen in transportation (2.4%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4%), clothing and footwear (1.4%), communication (0.6%), household goods and household services (0.4%), health (0.4%), food and accommodation (0.4%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.3%).
On the other hand, the entertainment and culture (-1.3%) and other goods and services (-1.3%) sectors declined.
By item nature, agricultural, forestry, and fishery products rose 10.8%, industrial products 6.0%, and electricity, water, and gas increased by 1.0%.
Consumer prices in the Jeonnam region rose 4.4%, the living cost index increased 6.2%, and the fresh food index went up 6.5% respectively.
