Contributing to Enhanced Field Response Capabilities Through Specialized Training for New Police Officers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 2nd at 9 a.m. that it conducted the first special lecture titled "The Police Are the Last Bastion of Public Safety" for newly appointed police officers.
This special lecture is part of the re-education for new police officers implemented as a follow-up measure to the Incheon inter-floor noise stabbing incident. It is being conducted over seven sessions in two weeks starting from the 2nd, targeting 278 officers, emphasizing police professional ethics and fostering a sense of duty.
During the lecture, Commissioner Kim Jaegyu stated, "Recent incidents have raised issues not only related to institutional and policy problems but also concerns about the qualifications of some officers, such as a lack of sense of duty and capability. Therefore, I emphasize the importance of police spirit and strengthening on-site response capabilities, and I ask you to become police officers who fulfill their responsibilities regardless of any difficulties."
He also stressed the importance of continuous on-site response training and acquiring legal knowledge to do their best in protecting public safety through organized and systematic responses in urgent situations.
A Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency official said, "We will conduct phased specialized training for 278 new police officers, including police spirit education, live training with electronic shock devices (Taser guns) and .38 caliber pistols, and physical force application training until the 15th. Additionally, for about 3,000 field officers such as community police, live training with electronic shock devices (Taser guns) will be conducted until the 31st to enhance the response capabilities of field officers."
