Prohibition of Power Abuse and Eradication of Solicitation Corruption... Yeongju-si, Gyeongbuk Conducts Anti-Corruption Integrity Education Gyeongbuk Yeongju City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, conducted anti-corruption integrity training on the 1st for executive public officials at grade 5 and above.

The integrity training was held to increase understanding of the “Public Officials Conflict of Interest Prevention Act,” scheduled to be implemented in May next year, and to establish a public service culture free from abuse of power.

The Conflict of Interest Prevention Act was enacted to prevent conflicts of interest that may arise during the performance of duties, ensure fair duties, and secure public trust in public institutions.

It aims to prevent situations where fairness is questioned in advance, such as illegal acquisition of property using confidential or internal information obtained through duties, hiring of public officials’ family members or concluding private contracts, and handling work involving parties with private interests, and to eradicate improper pursuit of private gain.

The city regarded grade 5 and above public officials as the main target of the training, considering that they are relatively more likely to face conflict of interest situations.

Lee Young-taek, Audit Officer of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, served as the instructor and conducted case-based training based on his experience as a current audit officer of the anti-corruption supervisory agency.

Mayor Jang Wook-hyun said, “I hope this will be an important opportunity to respond with integrity against various solicitations and corruption that may occur in the future.”
