Core Integration of XR Metaverse Manufacturing and Hangul AI Cultural Content

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 2nd, Gyeongsangbuk-do held the ‘Gyeongbuk-type Metaverse Promotion Strategy Meeting’ to review key related projects and the status of new departmental projects for next year.

Gyeongsangbuk-do is promoting a large-scale project to establish two metaverse convergence industry clusters with the goal of leading the metaverse era.

The Gyeongbuk-type metaverse project focuses on creating metaverse convergence industry clusters centered on ‘XR (Extended Reality) Metaverse Manufacturing’ and ‘Korean AI Cultural Content Convergence.’

The province plans to refine the basic plan with related experts and then propose it to political circles and central government ministries to include it as a presidential election agenda.

‘XR Metaverse Manufacturing’ is a concept of next-generation smart factory projects that innovate manufacturing by utilizing new XR devices such as smart glasses and data centers.

The province plans to strengthen the competitiveness of key manufacturing industries centered on industrial complexes infused with metaverse technology by building the Metaverse Hub Valley and XR Techno Place and utilizing the nation’s only ‘XR Device Development Support Center.’

They are working hard to be selected for the ‘Super-wide Area Metaverse Hub Valley Project’ to be promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT next year, and plan to attract a super-large Korean AI cloud in cooperation with leading domestic companies to create a ‘Korean Metaverse Content Startup Cluster.’

Since September, the province has formed the Gyeongbuk-type Metaverse Promotion Team to intensively plan regional metaverse projects.

They are conducting a ‘Metaverse Industry Promotion Study’ focusing on related industry development plans and national industrial complex demonstration plans, with concrete outlines expected by the end of this year.

Last month, they signed a business agreement with Cyworld Z to provide policy services using the metaverse and created the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Mini Homepage’ to promote provincial administration and post policy services.

Starting next year, they will also launch their own projects such as building the Metaverse Gyeongbuk Map, virtual experience of Dokdo, and revitalizing local shopping districts using the metaverse.

Kang Seong-jo, Deputy Governor, said, “If you have an idea about the metaverse, we will prepare all support measures so you can start a business and realize your dreams in Gyeongbuk.” He added, “We will introduce and converge metaverse technology across administration, economy, industry, and society to establish Gyeongbuk as a center of metaverse convergence industry.”
