SK Telecom launches shooting game 'Anvil'... Joint global market entry with Action Square

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SK Telecom announced on the 2nd that it will globally launch the shooting action game ‘ANVIL’ as a game publisher. SK Telecom is responsible for investing in and publishing ANVIL, while the action game specialist developer Action Square handled the development.

ANVIL will be released simultaneously in Korea and globally through ‘XBOX Preview’ and ‘Steam Early Access’ methods, and after upgrades reflecting gamers’ feedback, it is scheduled for official release next year. Previously, ANVIL was selected as a popular online booth at this year’s international game expo ‘E3,’ and more than 30,000 people participated in the beta test released this year, showing significant interest.

ANVIL can be played in various ways such as cloud, console, and PC when using SK Telecom’s 5GX cloud gaming service ‘Game Pass Ultimate,’ provided in cooperation with XBOX, and it is also available for purchase on the XBOX Store and Steam PC Store.

Customers using SK Telecom’s 5GX cloud gaming service Game Pass Ultimate can enjoy over 200 games including ANVIL and the racing game ‘Forza 5,’ which was released last month. Customers subscribed to SK Telecom’s subscription service ‘Uju Pass all,’ launched in August, can use ‘Game Pass Ultimate,’ normally priced at 11,900 KRW, at a discounted rate of about 40%, paying 5,900 KRW.

SK Telecom plans to release the RPG game ‘Supsok-ui Jageun Manyeo’ (developed by Sunnyside Up) and the action adventure game ‘Vapor World’ (developed by Alive) in the first half of next year through collaboration with domestic game developers.

Jinsu Jeon, Head of SK Telecom Metaverse CO, said, “We are pleased to enter the global game market together through Action Square and the XBOX platform,” and added, “We will continue to support customers so that they can easily enjoy various games through Game Pass Ultimate not only on consoles and PCs but also in cloud environments.”
