Haman-gun Finalizes Approval of 5-Year Comprehensive Food Industry Plan

Haman-gun Finalizes Approval of 5-Year Comprehensive Food Industry Plan A view of the Haman County Office.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Woo Jong-wook] Haman County, Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that it has established a 'Five-Year Comprehensive Plan for the Food Industry' and received final approval from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

Since March this year, the county has built a regional governance system involving the Nonghyup, RPC (Rice Processing Complex), crop-specific farmer organizations, and farmers, holding several working-level councils and development councils.

It also established a substantial plan including farmer organization and integration centered on RPC, organization of field crop farmers and establishment of production and distribution systems, expansion of eco-friendly agricultural product production, and differentiated marketing strategies.

With the approval of this comprehensive food industry plan, the county will be eligible to apply for Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs-linked support projects over the next five years, such as the food crop joint management body development project and the high-quality rice distribution activation project.

It will also receive various incentives such as RPC rice purchase funds.

The county plans to gradually reduce the rice cultivation area while expanding the cultivation area of high-quality varieties for high-quality rice production by an additional 400 hectares over the next five years.

Using the joint brand 'e-Arari,' it will enhance the image of excellent agricultural products from our region and supply rice that suits consumers' tastes.

To foster field crops, wheat and soybeans will be organized around production and distribution entities in production areas to strengthen farmer organizations and develop joint management bodies for food crops.

County Governor Jo Geun-je said, "Through this plan, we expect to strengthen the capabilities of farmer organizations, expand contract farming complexes, and produce high-quality safe agricultural products, leading to agricultural growth. We will establish a stable foundation for the food industry and secure competitiveness across the entire food industry by utilizing production and distribution systems linked to the food plan, taking the lead in improving farmers' incomes."
