French Parliament "Supports Taiwan's Participation in International Organizations"... Strong Opposition from China

The French Parliament adopted a resolution supporting Taiwan's participation in international organizations. China strongly opposed it.

According to Xinhua News Agency and Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) on the 1st, the French National Assembly passed a resolution on the 29th of last month urging the French government to support Taiwan's participation in international organizations, with 39 votes in favor, 2 against, and 3 abstentions.

The resolution called on the French government to use diplomatic means to help Taiwan participate in the World Health Organization (WHO) annual meetings and other global conferences.

In response, the Chinese Embassy in France stated that "the resolution boldly violates the 'One China' principle, interferes in China's internal affairs, and encourages forces advocating Taiwan independence," expressing strong opposition.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged UN member states in October to support Taiwan's participation in the UN system.
