China Reacts Angrily to Abe's Taiwan Remarks: "Heads Will Break and Blood Will Flow"

China Reacts Angrily to Abe's Taiwan Remarks: "Heads Will Break and Blood Will Flow" Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is giving a greeting after accepting the faction chairman position at the Hosoda faction meeting held at the Liberal Democratic Party headquarters on the 11th of last month.

China issued a harsh warning in response to former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's remark suggesting that the United States and Japan could intervene if China attacks Taiwan.

Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly criticized Abe's statement during a regular briefing on the 1st, saying, "Ignoring the basic norms of international relations and the principles of the Four Political Documents between China and Japan, he openly made incoherent remarks and gestures regarding the Taiwan issue, recklessly interfering in China's internal affairs."

The Four Political Documents between China and Japan refer to the Joint Communiqu? of China and Japan issued at the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972, the Treaty of Peace and Friendship signed by the foreign ministers of both countries in 1978, the Joint Declaration on the Efforts to Establish a Partnership of Friendship and Cooperation for Peace and Development between China and Japan announced in 1998, and the Joint Statement on the Comprehensive Promotion of the China-Japan Strategic Mutual Benefit Relationship signed by the leaders of both countries in 2008.

These documents include Japan's reflection on its past, the "One China" principle, and respect for mutual sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Spokesperson Wang added, "China expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this, and has lodged a stern representation through diplomatic channels."

He further warned, "Taiwan is sacred territory of China, and we will never tolerate others recklessly meddling with it. Anyone who challenges the Chinese people's red line will surely have their head broken and bleed."

The expression "have their head broken and bleed" (得破血流) was used by Chinese President Xi Jinping in his speech at the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing last July, stating, "The Chinese people will never tolerate any foreign forces bullying or pressuring us."

According to Japanese and Taiwanese media, former Prime Minister Abe, during an online lecture hosted by Taiwan's National Policy Foundation on the same day, said, "If something happens to Taiwan, it means something happens to Japan, and this means something happens to the US-Japan alliance," implying that the United States and Japan could jointly respond if a problem arises in Taiwan.
