[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A story has emerged about a 45-year-old husband who collapsed and died from acute myocardial infarction four days after receiving his second dose of the Moderna vaccine.
On the 30th of last month, a petition titled "My husband passed away four days after receiving the Moderna vaccine, please help me. I feel so helpless" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The petitioner, who introduced herself as a housewife in her 40s living in Jeju Island, stated that her husband, Mr. A, completed his second Moderna vaccination at a hospital in Jeju City on the 19th of last month. Mr. A felt unwell starting the day after the vaccination but still went to work. The petitioner said, "All I could do was give him Tylenol."
On the fourth day after the vaccination, Mr. A suddenly experienced cardiac shock while driving and lost consciousness on the spot. He was urgently transferred to a large hospital in Jeju City, regained consciousness, and underwent surgery but ultimately passed away.
The cause of death was acute myocardial infarction. The petitioner said, "My husband was a healthy man in his 40s with a robust physique and no underlying health conditions," and appealed, "How could he die of a myocardial infarction just four days after getting vaccinated?"
The petitioner added, "Since we started our family later than others, we tried to live as happily as possible. My husband went to work the day after vaccination just to give our daughter one more serving of beef. Even wearing holey socks, he said he was fine and went to work, but he came back as a corpse," raising her voice.
She continued, "On the day my husband died, I rushed to the hospital with our child from the daycare center, crying and shouting to see him immediately, but I never got to see him again," she revealed.
The petitioner claimed that after her husband's death, the investigation by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency was left unresolved and no follow-up actions were taken. She said, "I see news reports about deaths after vaccination, and I wonder if my husband was one of them. The government will probably just dismiss him as one of those cases. The death of a man who was healthier and more diligent than anyone else, and the family that fell apart?can it really be unrelated to the vaccine, as the government says?"
She added, "If I could turn back time, I would tell him not to get vaccinated. Our baby’s dad was her universe and everything. He was the best husband to our daughter. I still can't believe it, and every day I still hear his voice in my ear saying, 'Is the baby asleep? I'm off to work. Rest well,'" she concluded.
