Gyeongnam National University Selected as '2021 Excellent University for Liberal Arts Education Consulting Improvement'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gyeongnam National University announced on the 1st that it was selected as an excellent university in the '2021 University Liberal Arts Education Consulting Excellent Improvement Universities' announced recently by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, affiliated with the Korean Council for University Education.

This evaluation was conducted based on three criteria: the fidelity of improvement achievements after liberal arts education consulting, the appropriateness of improvement cases, and usability, and after comprehensive review, universities were selected as top, excellent, and improvement universities respectively.

Gyeongnam National University received consulting twice from the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation in 2017 and 2019, and based on the consulting, made various efforts including a complete overhaul of the liberal arts curriculum in the 2020 academic year.

As a result, it was evaluated as very excellent in the organization and operation of the liberal arts curriculum, performance evaluation, and improvement system, and was selected as an excellent university.

In particular, the operation performance of the classical reading course 'Arete Gojon Gangdok' received great attention from the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation and participating universities conducting the evaluation, gaining nationwide recognition for its excellence.

Jeon Young-rok, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Convergence, said, "As the AI era arrives, the importance of liberal arts education and basic education as universal intellectual education is gradually increasing," and added, "We will strive to promote the 'Arete Project,' a leading model of liberal arts education, by making software education and classical reading the two pillars of liberal arts education."
