Participation in Lunchbox Donation Available via Baemin App Until the 17th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok, announced on the 1st that they will launch the 'Baemin Vacation Lunchbox' fundraising campaign to support children who have difficulty securing meals due to the absence of guardians during vacation and the suspension of school meals.
Baemin Vacation Lunchbox is a lunchbox support project conducted by Woowa Brothers and World Vision since last winter, timed to coincide with vacation periods. So far, over 4,200 Baemin customers have participated during two vacation periods, delivering a total of more than 14,000 lunchboxes to about 1,000 children.
This fundraising campaign is open to all Baedal Minjok members through the app from today until the 17th, and donations can be made starting from the price of one lunchbox (8,000 KRW). For each lunchbox donated by a customer, Baedal Minjok will match the donation. In addition to lunchboxes, Baedal Minjok plans to donate goods worth a total of 150 million KRW, including Baemin meal coupons, packaging, and delivery fees.
This Baemin Vacation Lunchbox will be provided twice a week (a total of 7,500 meals) over eight weeks starting January 4 next year to 500 children at 35 schools in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Jeonbuk regions. The lunchboxes will be prepared using domestic ingredients for every meal. On days when lunchboxes are not provided, Baemin will give children the option to choose the food they want to eat with their families by providing Baemin meal coupons worth 20,000 KRW once a week for a total of eight times.
Kwon Yong-gyu, Executive Director of the Value Management Office at Woowa Brothers, said, "Now in its third year, Baemin Vacation Lunchbox was created with the hope that children at risk of food insecurity can eat heartily during vacations and enjoy the joy of choosing their own food with Baemin meal coupons." He added, "As a company delivering the happiness of food, Woowa Brothers will continue to strive to maintain the food safety net."
