[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jeju Air announced on the 1st that it will transport agricultural and marine products produced in Jeju on the Jeju~Daegu route once a day starting this month. Jeju Air's cargo transportation is the second after the Jeju~Gimpo route.
Jeju Air recently completed the contract procedures necessary for the cargo business on the Jeju~Daegu route. The company expects to transport up to 1,000 kg of cargo per day on this route.
Jeju Air first started its cargo business on the Jeju~Gimpo route in September 2018.
In the first year, the total transported volume was only 16,694 kg over four months, but it steadily increased to 88,458 kg in 2019 and 121,506 kg last year. Up to October this year, it transported 100,070 kg.
A Jeju Air official said, "Expanding the domestic cargo business has significance not only for cooperation with local communities but also for reviewing the potential of the domestic cargo market in the future."
