[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Starbucks Coffee Korea announced on the 1st that it conducted a cleaning volunteer activity at Deoksugung Palace.
On the 30th of last month, Starbucks carried out cleaning work on the wooden floors, window frames, and pillars of Hamnyeongjeon and Jeukjodang at Deoksugung Palace with 30 partners. The volunteer activity aims to provide visitors to Deoksugung with a pleasant environment to enjoy the royal palace.
Since 2009, Starbucks has signed a 'Cultural Heritage Keeper' agreement with the Cultural Heritage Administration and has been practicing various cultural heritage protection activities, including royal palace cultural events, cleaning and planting activities at royal palaces, and introducing stores and developing MDs featuring traditional cultural designs.
In particular, the program "With Celebrities at Jeonggwanheon" has been held every spring and autumn at Jeonggwanheon in Deoksugung since 2009. Until 2019, over 70 celebrities participated as guest speakers, engaging more than 20,000 citizens.
Additionally, over the past 13 years, more than 2,600 Starbucks partners have participated in volunteer activities at Deoksugung, accumulating a total of over 14,500 hours, continuing our cultural heritage keeper activities.
Kim Ji-young, head of Starbucks' Social Contribution Team, said, "Through our cultural heritage keeper activities that have continued since 2009, we hope to convey the importance of our cultural heritage to visitors of Deoksugung."
