This is a mystery novel depicting the events that unfold after a man and a woman, who met in college and loved each other for 14 years, reunite by chance 16 years after their breakup, one as a novelist and the other as a Korean language teacher. They share strange stories with each other. Xaver tells the story of his grandfather, who returned to his hometown with the woman he loved but ended up loving another woman, while Matilda recounts the story of a Korean language teacher who kidnapped a child, confined them in a basement, and raised them without teaching language. The two seemingly unrelated stories intertwine and lead to a dramatic conclusion. Winner of the German Glauzer Literary Award.
