LG Electronics Introduces Facility Management Solution Using AI Robots... First Applied at Gonjiam Resort

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Electronics announced on the 1st that it has introduced an 'AI Facility Management Solution' that efficiently manages hotels and resorts using artificial intelligence (AI) and robots. This solution was recently applied at Gonjiam Resort located in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The newly introduced AI Facility Management Solution incorporates various technologies such as AI robots, autonomous driving, 5G, remote control, and Object DID (a technology based on blockchain that assigns unique identifiers to objects to verify their identity).

This solution links a proprietary intelligent control system with AI robots to share necessary facility management information and surrounding conditions in real-time with the control room. Facility managers can respond quickly based on the received data and manage the resort efficiently.

The AI robot equipped with autonomous driving functions freely moves around indoor and outdoor spaces to check whether various facilities are operating properly and to verify if there are any emergency patients. In the future, it plans to introduce functions that detect various situations such as smoke, temperature, and odors by installing multiple sensors.

This robot can adjust the distance between its wheels to actively respond to terrain changes. It freely rides elevators and moves with minimal vibration even when encountering low thresholds or somewhat irregular surfaces such as unpaved roads.

The AI Facility Management Solution is equipped with Object DID technology developed by LG CNS, which blocks the possibility of forgery or alteration of various data confirmed and collected by the AI robot. Thanks to this technology, facility managers can control and manage the AI Facility Management Solution more flexibly.

Additionally, LG Electronics introduced the 'AI Concierge Solution' at Gonjiam Resort. This solution applies Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) technology that enables interaction between humans and robots. Customers can receive desired information anytime by conversing or touching screens using digital signage and floating displays installed throughout the accommodation facilities.
