Foreign Crew Member with Intestinal Obstruction Urgently Transported from Chuja Island, Jeju


[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] On the morning of the 30th, amid weather warnings issued across the entire sea area of Jeju Island, a foreign emergency patient suffering from intestinal obstruction in Chuja-myeon, Jeju City, was urgently transported by the Jeju Coast Guard.


According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 30th, at around 8:54 a.m., a report was received from the Chuja Health Center in Chuja-myeon, Jeju City, stating that a foreign crew member A (male/20s/Vietnam) who visited with symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting needed to be transported to a large hospital in the city.


Accordingly, the Jeju Coast Guard dispatched a 500-ton patrol vessel patrolling the nearby waters amid a wind and wave advisory issued for the entire sea area of Jeju Island, arriving at a location 1 km off Shinyang Port in Chuja-myeon at around 10:10 a.m.


After receiving the emergency patient and two guardians from the coastal rescue boat of the Jeju Coast Guard Chuja Substation, they boarded the 500-ton patrol vessel at around 10:15 a.m., arriving at Jeju Port at approximately 11:48 a.m., and safely handed over the patient to a 119 ambulance waiting nearby.


Meanwhile, this year, the Jeju Coast Guard has safely transported a total of 42 emergency patients, including 30 from Chuja Island, using patrol vessels and other means.
