"Wear Warm Clothes" Brief Cold Snap After Rain in Gwangju and Jeonnam

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju and Jeonnam are forecasted to experience a brief cold spell as temperatures drop following rainfall.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 30th, the minimum temperatures in Gwangju and Jeonnam on the 1st are expected to fall by about 5 to 10 degrees Celsius. Although the cold is expected to be similar to the average for this time of year, the continuous cool weather from the previous day to the day itself is likely to make the cold feel more intense to residents.

The morning minimum temperatures in Gwangju and Jeonnam will range from 0 to 4 degrees Celsius, while the daytime maximum temperatures will be between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that temperatures will begin to drop from the afternoon of the same day, with minimum temperatures on the 2nd expected to fall to between -4 and 3 degrees Celsius.

Currently, rainfall continues in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas, with accumulated precipitation measured at 22 mm in Gwangju, 13.3 mm in Mokpo, 16.3 mm in Yeosu, 19.6 mm in Suncheon, 13.5 mm in Gwangyang, and 19.5 mm in Naju.

Sea waves are expected to be very high, reaching 2 to 4 meters in the southern West Sea and southwestern South Sea on the 1st and 3rd, while on other days, waves will range from 1 to 3 meters.

A Korea Meteorological Administration official said, "Due to the temperature drop from late afternoon on this day, rain or snow that falls from dawn may freeze, causing icy roads. We urge special caution to prevent traffic accidents and pedestrian safety incidents caused by ice formation."
