Sale of 8,425 Donated Items by Employees through Beautiful Store Foundation
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Dongkuk Steel held 'A Beautiful Day with Dongkuk Steel Group' on the 30th at Beautiful Stores in three locations: Seoul, Incheon, and Busan.
'A Beautiful Day with Dongkuk Steel Group' is an event that Dongkuk Steel has been conducting since 2005 to realize the value of sharing and circulation through item recycling. This year marks its 15th anniversary. All affiliates collaborate with Beautiful Store to sell donated items from employees, and the proceeds generated from the executive cherished items employee auction event 'DK Auction' are donated.
From the end of October, Dongkuk Steel collected 8,425 donated items over about three weeks from three affiliates across four business sites, including the Seoul headquarters, and delivered them to Beautiful Store. The donated items are sold through Beautiful Store branches in Anguk, Dongincheon, and Haeundae. Dongkuk Steel plans to use the sales proceeds to create 'Beautiful Sharing Bundles' containing winter supplies and food, which will be delivered to elderly people spending the Lunar New Year alone and energy-vulnerable groups during the winter season.
Additionally, Dongkuk Steel donated 8.08 million KRW in proceeds generated from the executive cherished items auction 'DK Auction' to Beautiful Store. The donation will be used for surgery, rehabilitation treatment, and living expenses for children suffering from rare incurable diseases.
Separately, Vice Chairman Jang Se-wook donated 10 million KRW in personal funds to the Beautiful Store Foundation.
Jang Se-wook, Vice Chairman of Dongkuk Steel, said, "It is unfortunate that employees could not directly participate in sales volunteer activities due to COVID-19," adding, "We will develop a precious relationship with Beautiful Store through programs that allow employees to participate even on a small scale in the future."
