Dongmyeong University Selected in TOP 10 by Gyogiwon as an Excellent Improvement University for Liberal Arts Education Consulting Dongmyung University Campus.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongmyung University in Busan has been included in the TOP10 Universities for Excellence in Liberal Arts Education Improvement in 2021, selected and announced by the Korean Institute for Liberal Arts Education under the Korean Council for University Education.


The TOP10 Universities for Excellence in Liberal Arts Education Improvement are ▲Grand Prize winners: Ajou University, Woosuk University, Seoul Theological University, Halla University ▲Excellence winners: Gyeongnam National University, Duksung Women’s University, Dongmyung University, Suncheon National University ▲Improvement winners: Inha University, Jeonbuk National University.


Dongmyung University’s selection as an ‘Excellence’ winner is the result of a comprehensive review of its achievements in improving liberal arts education and exemplary cases.


The selection was based on evaluations of three criteria after consulting: fidelity of improvement achievements, appropriateness of improvement cases, and applicability.


Representative improvement cases of Dongmyung University include strengthening the foundation of liberal arts education and internal capabilities by ▲redefining the goals of liberal arts education ▲specifying criteria for course organization ▲clarifying standards for course opening, closing, and operation.


To implement these, the university developed a core competency-based liberal arts education system and completely revamped the liberal arts curriculum to ensure coherence of liberal arts courses.


Dongmyung University plans to share the results at the ‘2021 University Liberal Arts Education Consulting Excellence Improvement Case Presentation’ on December 9.


Professor Gam Young-hee, Dean of the Undergraduate Liberal Arts College at Dongmyung University, said, “We will strive even harder to improve the quality of learning rights for enrolled students in liberal arts courses.”


Dongmyung University is currently running the Do-ing University, which practices innovative education based on the 3 No’s (No Grade Level - No Credits - No Teaching).


The goal of Do-ing University is to cultivate competencies that enable students to survive in any world that may come.
