Hampyeong-gun Launches 'Hampyeong-eup Rural Hub Revitalization Project' in Full Swing

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County has initiated efforts to revitalize the declining Hampyeong-eup town area.

On the 30th, according to the county, the basic plan for the Hampyeong-eup Rural Hub Revitalization Project was conditionally approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on the 24th, and the project to revitalize the Hampyeong-eup town area will be actively promoted.

The "Rural Hub Revitalization Project" is a public contest project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to improve residents' quality of life by expanding basic living infrastructure in rural town and township centers.

Selected as a new project district in 2019, a total project cost of 20.7 billion KRW (10.5 billion KRW in national funds) will be invested in the Kigak-ri area of Hampyeong-eup to build the "Eoullim Community Center." The center will newly establish and integrate the Hampyeong-eup Office to provide one-stop administrative, cultural, and welfare services.

The Eoullim Community Center will be a complex community space with a scale of one basement floor and three above-ground floors (total floor area 3,059㎡). The first floor will house the eup office, and the second and third floors will include a children's playground and club rooms, offering various service functions.

In addition to the eup town center, key village hubs will be designated in the northern (Gadong-ri) and southern (Japung-ri) areas of Hampyeong-eup. The village halls there will be remodeled to provide diverse cultural and welfare services to residents with limited access to cultural enjoyment.

A county official stated, "After completing administrative procedures such as approval of the basic and implementation plans by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, we will proceed with construction without delay aiming for completion in 2024."

County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, "We will successfully promote the '2026 Hampyeong-eup Urban New Deal Project,' including not only this Rural Hub Revitalization Project but also the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project and regional demand-tailored projects. We will revitalize the stagnant downtown area to create a pleasant and livable residential environment."
