[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification announced that the "Rocket Industry Day" (November 29) marked on this year's North Korean calendar is not indicated on next year's calendar.
On the 30th, a Ministry of Unification official told reporters, "We have checked next year's North Korean calendar, and as far as we have identified so far, there is no phrase marking November 29 as Rocket Industry Day."
Earlier, Japan's NHK broadcast obtained this year's North Korean calendar, which marked November 29 not only as Aviation Day, a traditional North Korean holiday, but also as Rocket Industry Day, leading to analysis that North Korea established a new commemorative day based on the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test launch on November 29, 2017.
However, according to the Ministry of Unification, aside from this year's North Korean calendar marking November 29 as Rocket Industry Day, there has been no mention or reference to it through North Korean state media or party meetings.
