Over 1,600 Visitors Since Opening in Late September

Tourists Flock to Jeonju Hanok Village's 'Jeonju Matbaegi'

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 30th that the Jeonju Food Promotion Center ‘Jeonju Matbaegi,’ located in the Hanok Village, continues to attract visits from citizens and travelers.

According to the city, since its opening near Gyeonggijeon in Hanok Village on September 29, ‘Jeonju Matbaegi’ has welcomed 1,600 visitors to date.

‘Jeonju Matbaegi’ is an exhibition space promoting processed foods made from local agricultural products, featuring 38 processed food items produced by 15 companies, displayed monthly and by theme. These include △Jeonju Minari Bread (Campagne, Castella, etc.) △Jeonju Minari Liquor △Minari Dumplings △Peach Sikhye △Peach Bokdeongi Rice Cake △Jeonju Moju Chocolate △Jeonju Bibim Noodles △Bellflower Handmade Caramel △Jeonju Handmade Beer △Black Bean Misugaru Stick, among others.

In particular, Jeonju Matbaegi offers free tasting and sampling events for various processed foods produced in Jeonju, making it a notable place to experience the diverse flavors of Jeonju or to discover unique transformations of processed foods.

As the number of visitors to Jeonju Matbaegi increases, it has also significantly helped local food processing companies with promotion and sales improvement.

Baked goods such as Minari bread have seen increased bulk orders, raising monthly sales by about 1 million KRW, while dumplings have seen sales increase by approximately 600,000 KRW.

Additionally, Jeonju Minari Makgeolli has recently discovered 3 to 4 new business partners, and its market activity is expected to gradually increase.

Accordingly, Jeonju City plans to continuously promote the development of various products such as Minari Nurungji Chocolate and Chokongnamu through collaboration with the Jeonju Agricultural Life Material Research Institute and local food companies. Considering the difficulties faced by small-scale food businesses, the city will also implement various support projects aimed at upgrading product design, packaging, marketing, and sales channels.

Furthermore, starting in December, Jeonju City will operate live commerce directly at the Jeonju Food Promotion Center ‘Jeonju Matbaegi’ together with representatives of the companies. They will also support product promotion through various methods such as creating Minari characters, leaflets, and promotional videos.
