[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 30th that it will implement the 'Yeontan Voucher Project' targeting low-income households in the region.
The Yeontan voucher has been jointly implemented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Mine Reclamation Corporation since 2008 to reduce heating cost burdens for low-income households and stabilize the supply of smokeless coal briquettes.
In Chungnam, 2,809 households including beneficiaries using yeontan for home heating, near-poverty groups, single-parent families, and marginalized groups will receive yeontan coupons. The total support amount is approximately 1.3 billion KRW.
Eligible households can receive coupons through the town, township, or neighborhood community service centers under the jurisdiction of their address next month.
The coupon usage period is until April 30 of next year, and when requesting delivery to yeontan retailers or factories, yeontan will be supplied up to the coupon amount.
Lee Tae-gyu, Director of the Future Industry Bureau of the province, said, “The province will do its best to discover and promote projects that align with improving energy welfare to enhance the quality of life for residents.”
