'Joo-ok Like Dowon' Gala Dinner to be Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Plaza Hotel, operated by Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, announced on the 30th that it will hold a gala dinner featuring the Chinese restaurant 'Dowon' and the Korean restaurant 'Joo-ok' on the 2nd of next month.
The hotel explained, "This gala dinner is prepared under the subtitle 'Two Perspectives, Joo-ok Like Dowon,'" adding, "Guests can experience a collaboration cuisine by star chefs of Chinese and Korean cuisine."
The gala dinner is based on five keywords: seasonal, rare, regional, premium, and special. Two head chefs, Chu Shengluo and Shin Changho, expressed artistic sensibility and ideas on one plate. The menu consists of nine courses of creative Chinese and Korean dishes. Three glasses of wine are paired with the courses. It is characterized by the omakase-style (Japanese omakase format) presentation using Ulleungyakso (Ulleungdo Korean beef), Dokdo shrimp, and Jeju wild red parrotfish, sourced fresh on the day from Jeju, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo.
'Two Perspectives, Joo-ok Like Dowon' will be held in two sessions for one day only on the 2nd of next month, with a maximum of 30 guests.
A representative from Hanwha Hotels & Resorts said, "Since the spread of COVID-19, interest in health has led to an increase in gourmet experiences, and the reservation rate for courses at the Chinese restaurant Dowon has risen from 65% in 2019 to 75% this year, showing growing customer demand for high-end menus," adding, "Despite the high price of 380,000 KRW per person, over 80% of reservations for this gala dinner have already been completed." They added, "We will continue to prepare menus and events that consider customer demands."
