[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 30th that it will participate in the world's largest home appliance exhibition CES2022 from January 5 to 8 next year in a hybrid format combining online and offline, showcasing new digital experiences to customers.
LG Electronics will set up its booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the United States, where CES2022 is held, as a space where visitors can experience products using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). At various viewpoints installed throughout the booth, visitors can use smartphones or tablets to virtually experience CES Innovation Award-winning products such as LG OLED TVs, LG Objet Collection ice water purifier refrigerators, and plant lifestyle appliance LG Tiun, as well as the large-scale OLED sculptures previously showcased at CES.
Additionally, LG Electronics will operate an online exhibition hall and provide a space at the offline booth where visitors can scan QR codes with smart devices to explore the online exhibition. An LG Electronics official explained, "Based on the experience accumulated from operating online exhibition halls at IFA 2020 and CES 2021, we have prepared the online exhibition hall so that customers can vividly feel the sense of being on-site."
As part of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, LG Electronics stated that the 2,000㎡ exhibition space was created using recycled materials such as OSB plywood made by compressing wood chips without using adhesives, and unfinished pine plywood without paint or varnish. The booth design was also simplified to facilitate easy recycling after the exhibition ends.
LG Electronics expects that at this exhibition, where offline events resume after two years, it will strengthen its image as a technology leader by showcasing innovative products and services using digital technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality, and provide customer satisfaction. Lee Jung-seok, Executive Vice President and Head of the Global Marketing Center at LG Electronics, said, "We prepared the exhibition in a new way, breaking away from the conventional framework," adding, "At this CES, visitors from around the world will be able to freely experience LG Electronics' innovative products and services."
