Students from Pukyong National University have started a company that delivers products purchased from online shopping malls on behalf of soldiers who can only receive Korea Post parcels.
The company, ‘Juda,’ was founded by Yu Jae-sung, a senior in the Department of Energy Resources Engineering at Pukyong National University, and Kwon Soon-woo, a junior in the Department of Fisheries Biomedical Science.
The Pukyong National University students launched the military parcel delivery agency service ‘Millivery’ as Juda’s business model.
The service receives products purchased by soldiers from online shopping malls and sends them to their units via Korea Post parcels.
Juda CEO Yu Jae-sung said, “According to our research, online shopping malls that use Korea Post parcels account for less than 10% of the total. Our service solves the inconvenience of having to receive items purchased from online shopping malls on behalf of soldiers and resend them via Korea Post parcels, allowing parcels to be received faster.”
Juda signed up about 2,500 soldiers for the service shortly after its founding.
Juda plans to reduce parcel costs and lessen users’ burdens through bulk parcel contracts with Korea Post.
On the 17th, CEO Yu received 20 million KRW in prize money and the Commissioner’s Award from the Korea Forest Service at the country’s largest startup competition, ‘Challenge! K-Startup 2021 King of Kings.’
CEO Yu also won the grand prize at the 7th Busan Startup Idea Competition. The startup model has been filed for a patent.
Yu Jae-sung said, “We are preparing Millivery Prime, a subscription service that allows soldiers to receive parcels from all courier companies directly. Our goal is to open a soldier-exclusive shopping mall that can deliver desired items on the same day by accumulating data on when and what items soldiers need.”
