[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held the 2021 Geumcheon-gu Social Welfare Expo Contest Awards Ceremony at 2 p.m. on the 29th in the main auditorium of Geumcheon-gu Office.
Geumcheon-gu has been hosting the ‘Geumcheon Welfare Sharing Festival’ every year in the district office plaza to encourage social welfare contributors who have worked hard to promote community welfare. Originally scheduled for September, the event was simplified to a social welfare expo contest to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The contest was divided into four categories: ▲Video on the changed welfare delivery system due to COVID-19 (group) ▲Talent donation video ‘Find the Hidden Master’ ▲Experience essay on sharing activities ▲Experience photo on sharing activities.
At the awards ceremony, the grand prize in the group video category was awarded to Geumcheon Nuri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center for ‘Welfare Service Delivery System Changed to Cope with the COVID Environment,’ and the individual grand prize was given for the talent donation video ‘Folk Music.’ Following this, Lim Dong-chae, Chairman of the Geumcheon-gu Community Security Council, presented certificates of commendation to 14 winners in each category and took commemorative photos.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I express my gratitude to those who have devoted themselves to local welfare on the ground despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19,” adding, “Every year, many residents gathered at the district office plaza for the ‘Geumcheon Welfare Sharing Festival,’ and I hope that next year all residents can participate as protagonists.”
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) held the ‘Offline Town Hall Meeting with the Mayor of Gangnam-gu’ on the 29th at the Prima Hotel in Cheongdam-dong.
At the town hall meeting, about 100 residents, including Jeong Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, and Lim Dong-ho, Director of the Resident Autonomy Division, discussed seven major climate-related agendas selected through the ‘Gangnam-gu Online Resident Public Forum.’
Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, attended the discussion titled ‘What is the Desirable Direction for the Development of K-pop?’ held at 2 p.m. on the 29th in the first conference room of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building.
Hosted by Jeong Cheong-rae, Member of the National Assembly for Mapo-eul, and organized by the Korea Singers Association, Korea Music Copyright Association, Korea Music Performers Association, and Korea Music Contents Association, this discussion was arranged to jointly discuss the unfair distribution rates of copyright fees in the popular music industry, the positions of each association, and the realities of the popular music industry.
The discussion was chaired by National Assembly member Jeong Cheong-rae, with Professor Choi Jin-won of Daegu University delivering the presentation.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu (second from right), took a commemorative photo with Kwak Sang-jin, CEO of Shinil Electric (second from left), and Lee Ui-an, district council member (first from right), at the electric blanket donation ceremony for 200 households on the afternoon of the 29th.
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that Shinil Electric (CEO Kwak Sang-jin) visited Dongdaemun-gu Office at 3 p.m. on the 29th to donate electric blankets for low-income groups vulnerable to cold weather.
The donation ceremony was held in the mayor’s reception room on the 5th floor of Dongdaemun-gu Office, attended by Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol, CEO Kwak Sang-jin and his spouse, and District Council member Lee Ui-an.
The donated items included 200 electric blankets worth approximately 5.5 million KRW, which the district plans to distribute to 200 low-income multicultural households.
Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol said, “I thank Shinil Electric for donating electric blankets to help our marginalized neighbors have a warm winter despite the difficult times due to COVID-19,” adding, “We will ensure that the donated electric blankets are delivered to those in need.”
Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, attended the 15th Child Abuse Prevention Day ‘Child’s Mind, Child’s Future’ commemorative event held at the Yangcheon Digital Media Center at 4 p.m. on the 29th.
Under the slogan ‘Understand the child’s mind and think about the child’s future,’ the event featured segments such as ▲Child abuse prevention talk show & quiz, ▲Performance to abolish Article 915 of the Civil Act (disciplinary rights) titled ‘Eliminating the Love’s Stick,’ and ▲Presentations by child and youth representatives.
Additionally, at the entrance of the event venue, experiential booths related to child abuse prevention were operated by the district office, Yangcheon Police Station, and Gangseo Child Protection Agency, attracting attention.
Mayor Kim Soo-young said, “I hope this event will be an opportunity to listen directly to children’s stories about child abuse and to think together about what adults should prepare for children,” adding, “We will strive to make Yangcheon safe from child abuse.”
