The First Festival for Forestry Technicians, 'Forestry Technicians' Day,' Successfully Concluded

‘Imagine in the Forest, Realize in the Forest’ Slogan Vision Proclaimed... Over 500 Participants

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The first festival for forest technicians, the ‘2021 1st Forest Technicians' Day,’ successfully concluded on the 29th.

The event, held both online and offline from the 28th to the 29th, saw the participation of approximately 500 people.

Under the slogan “Imagine in the Forest, Realize in the Forest,” November 29th was declared as ‘Forest Technicians' Day’ annually. To proclaim the vision and clarify the future path for forest technicians, the Korea Forest Technicians Association (Special Corporation) organized the event, and the Daegu·Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Forest Technicians Association (Special Corporation) hosted it. The event was broadcast live not only offline but also through a YouTube channel.

The Korea Forest Technicians Association held this event for the first time this year to boost the pride of forest technicians, widely promote forest technology, enhance trust in forest technicians nationwide, and provide a platform for exchange and unity.

Due to COVID-19, the event complied with the government’s phased daily recovery quarantine guidelines and was conducted mainly as an in-person event.

The ‘2021 1st Forest Technicians' Day’ festival started on the 28th with a pre-event at Unjusansungma Natural Recreation Forest and included various programs such as a safety prayer ceremony for forest technicians, the vision proclamation for Forest Technicians' Day, awards for forest technicians, forest technology demonstrations, viewing of forestry equipment exhibition booths, and special lectures.

In particular, over 80 participants attended the special lecture, where they discussed topics such as expanding the forest technology market through forest biomass collection and the role of forest technicians in increasing forest (carbon) sinks.

In the forest technicians' awards, Seo Kyungsoo and Lee Bongchan, members of the Korea Forest Technicians Association, received awards from the Forest Service Commissioner. The Governor’s Commendation was awarded to Lee Jeonghyun, president of the Daegu·Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Forest Technicians Association; Choi Jongpil and Lee Seungdam, heads of the Forest Technicians' Day Promotion Team; Jung Youngbok, general business director of the Korea Forest Technicians Association; and Lee Kwangil, the 2nd senior vice president of the Korea Forest Technicians Association.

The Chairman’s Commendation from the Korea Federation of Forest Cooperatives was awarded to Executive Director Kwak Kyungsik, and the President’s Commendation of the Korea Forest Technicians Association was also presented to five executives and staff, including Jung Byungcheon, president of the Chungbuk branch of the Korea Forest Technicians Association, for their contributions to the development of the association.

Companies participating in the forestry equipment exhibition booths included ▲Yubitongsang ▲Geunchang ▲Shinil Science ▲Hanseo Precision, showcasing forestry machinery and equipment, wildfire suppression vehicles, wood shredders, communication equipment, forestry drones, well-being rice cakes, forest products, and agricultural specialties, providing many attractions.
