Over 6,500 Residents on 3 Islands, 20% of Total Population Receive Solar Pension
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 29th, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) paid the first solar power profit dividends on Jido Island for the third time, following Anjwa and Jarado.
According to the county, under the "Ordinance on Sharing the Benefits of New Renewable Energy Development," the profits from the 100MW solar power generation project on Jido were simultaneously distributed at 33 village senior centers to all 3,512 residents of Jido-eup Bondo, with a maximum of 350,000 to 110,000 KRW per person.
In the case of Taechon Village in Jido-eup, an additional weighting of 1 was applied according to Article 2 of the "Ordinance on Support for Areas Surrounding Sinan-gun Substations," and the Lee family of an 8-person household received the highest dividend of 2.08 million KRW.
Jido, which paid dividends today, had as many as 324 new residents this year, the highest population inflow compared to other areas.
In particular, to encourage youth under the age of 40 to move in, an ordinance amendment is underway to allow immediate dividend payments upon moving in, which is expected to accelerate youth migration.
Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "We will continuously promote policies with residents to make Sinan a place where everyone wants to live by increasing income through sharing the benefits of new renewable energy development using Sinan's infinite resources of wind and sunlight, as well as support policies for returning to fishing and rural areas."
Sinan-gun plans to pay solar power profit dividends on Saokdo Island in April next year, and in 2024, it will expand solar power dividend payments by establishing solar power plants of 200MW on Anjwado, 100MW on Imja-myeon, 100MW on Jeungdo-myeon, and 300MW on Bigeum-myeon in 2023. When the 8.2GW Sinan Offshore Wind Power is completed in 2030, it is planned to pay offshore wind power plant profit dividends of about 6 million KRW per person annually to all residents, accelerating the project.
