The signing ceremony was attended by Chairman Kim Yongbin, in his capacity as President of the Korea Curling Federation, Handok CEO Baek Jinki, Medtronic Korea Executive Director Kim Hyera, Korea Technology CEO Shin Yonggu, and numerous other officials.
The parties promised close cooperation and support with the shared goal of enhancing the performance of the Republic of Korea national curling team.
Additionally, to help the curling national team competing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics improve their performance through blood glucose measurement and management, Handok and Medtronic agreed to provide the Guardian™ Connect continuous glucose monitoring system transmitters and sensors.
The Guardian Connect system is a medical device that requires consultation with medical professionals before use. It allows real-time monitoring of internal glucose levels measured every 5 minutes via a smartphone application.
Chairman Kim Yongbin stated, “Since curling requires thorough condition management and fatigue recovery not only during competitions but also during regular training, we expect the players’ performance to be enhanced with the Guardian Connect provided by Handok and Medtronic,” adding, “Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction and Korea Technology will continue to support sports such as curling together with Handok and Medtronic.”
Meanwhile, the Republic of Korea national curling team is scheduled to participate in the Olympic qualification tournament held in the Netherlands this December, aiming to secure the remaining ticket for the Beijing Olympics.
